Job summary

Motor City Metal Fab in Southeast Michigan is seeking an experienced welder to join our family-owned shop. You will translate prints and CAD into fabrication plans, lay out, cut, fit, tack, and weld to tight tolerances using MIG and TIG on steel, stainless, and aluminum.

You'll read blueprints and weld symbols, collaborate with engineering, self-inspect finished parts, and support fixture setups for prototypes and small runs.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of proven MIG and TIG welding experience.
• Prototype/custom fabrication background; job shop pace preferred.
• Blueprint and weld symbol literacy.
• Hands-on with steel, stainless, and aluminum.
• Detail-first mindset and pride in workmanship.
• Independent problem-solver who owns outcomes.
• Dependable, punctual, and professional.

Responsibilities

• Translate prints, sketches, and CAD into fabrication plans.
• Lay out, cut, fit, tack, and weld to tight tolerances.
• Perform MIG and TIG welding on steel, stainless, and aluminum.
• Interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and GD&T.
• Collaborate with engineering and machining to improve manufacturability.
• Self-inspect and finish parts to a high standard.
• Support fixture setup and early-stage prototype development.
• Keep a safe, orderly, and clean workspace.
