Job summary

The Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Jefferson County is seeking an Afterschool Program Educator to support the 4-H Afterschool Program. Educators may be assigned to one of several school districts and provide comprehensive 4-H youth development opportunities for students in grades K-12.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or equivalent education (e.g., GED/High School Diploma plus one year of transferable/program experience).
• Relevant experience related to the role.
• Valid New York State Driver’s License with ability to meet travel requirements.
• Ability to meet School Age Child Care (SACC) and OCFS licensing requirements, including TB test, physical exam, and training.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Program Delivery, Evaluation, and Applied Research (90%) – Use established resources to support participants and teach STEAM programs; assist in lesson plan development and teaching; collaborate with school personnel to integrate instruction; provide staffing for other 4-H programs; collect and interpret evaluation data.
• Administrative Responsibilities – Coordination/Operation (5%) – Assist with outreach and marketing; organize resources; communicate with parents and external agencies; assist with transportation when required.
• Professional Improvement and Other Duties (5%) – Participate in required trainings; develop a professional plan with supervisors; attend meetings, report expenses, and support safe working conditions.
