Job summary

UPMC Presbyterian/Montefiore is seeking a Journeyman 1 - Stationary Engineer to join our hospital facilities team in Pittsburgh. This full-time role maintains HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems to ensure safe, reliable operation for patients and staff.

You will inspect and maintain building automation (DDC), logs, and respond to alarms, while keeping safety and infection-control procedures at the forefront.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Trade school or multi-discipline certificate required.
• NIULPE Class 4 or 5 engineer license within 30 days of hire.
• If in Pennsylvania, City of Pittsburgh Stationary Engineer license within 30 days or per local/state authority.

Responsibilities

• Inspect electrical distribution systems and fire alarm systems; respond to alarms.
• Maintain clean and safe work areas and equipment rooms.
• Maintain all logs pertaining to shift responsibilities (e.g., med gas, rounds).
• Maintain water chemistry and testing procedures on equipment and building systems.
• Operate and maintain building Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems.
• Order materials as needed.
• Follow infection control procedures in all tasks.
• Perform minor carpentry and painting work.
• Record work orders and submit hours daily.
• Repair plumbing fixtures and piping, address leaks and clogs.
• Operates and maintains all mechanical systems (steam, water, ventilation, refrigeration).
• Round mechanical equipment and machine rooms as assigned.
