Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Hospital Maintenance Engineer for the Kamin Tower project at Presbyterian in Pittsburgh. You will operate, maintain and round a variety of mechanical equipment in a state-of-the-art hospital environment, ensuring safety, reliability and infection control standards.

The role requires three or more years in a hospital or commercial building environment, a technical diploma or apprenticeship, and NIULPE Class 4 or 5 license within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain water chemistry and testing procedures on equipment and building systems.
• Record work orders and submit hours to supervisor on a daily basis.
• Safely and efficiently operate and maintain all mechanical systems, e.g., steam pressure heating systems, water systems, ventilation systems, refrigeration equipment, oxygen supplies and conditions.
• Perform any maintenance work required in which skills can be utilized.
• Inspect electrical distribution systems, locate short circuits, loose connectors, worn motor brushes, etc.; inspect fire alarm system and provide first response to all fire alarms.
• Maintain all written logs pertaining to shift responsibilities, e.g., preventive maintenance work orders, med gas logs, building and equipment room rounds, etc.
• Repair and maintain plumbing fixtures, piping systems, plumbing leads (soldering), defective pipes, and clogged drains.
• Ensure that parts and materials are in stock and available for repairs and scheduled maintenance.
• Operate and maintain a variety of building's direct digital control (DDC) systems and pneumatic tube system.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area, equipment rooms and shop areas.
• Perform all work following infection control procedures.
