Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to monitor and repair utilities and mechanical systems across hospital facilities, including boiler rooms, chillers, plumbing, and HVAC. You will perform preventive maintenance, respond to emergencies during evenings and weekends, document activities, and coordinate with nursing and management to ensure patient safety and comfort.

A high school diploma plus 3 years of physical-plant experience are required; an Associate

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a physical plant with gas-fired boilers required.
• Knowledge of maintenance of plumbing, electrical and mechanical equipment required.
• Skilled with hand tools, meters and instruments of the trade.

Responsibilities

• Monitor operating status of utilities and equipment providing essential support services by conducting routine inspections and tours of the boiler room, chiller plant, various mechanical equipment areas and hospital buildings.
• Perform frequent operational adjustments and routine preventive maintenance to physical plant, patient care and process equipment following standardized task descriptions.
• Perform mechanical, plumbing, HVAC and electrical repairs; prioritize maintenance requests and make emergency repairs during evenings, nights and weekends.
• Communicate promptly with nursing staff and management regarding status of utilities and support equipment; address emergencies affecting patient safety.
• Document daily physical plant operations, inspections and repairs; notify appropriate personnel of emergencies and unusual occurrences.
