Job summary

American Electric Power in Michigan seeks Station Electrician C/B/A candidates to perform maintenance, inspection, and testing of energized and de-energized generation, transmission, and distribution facilities. Travel may exceed 50% and CDL is required.

Starting wages range from $30.12 to $56.36 per hour with comprehensive benefits. Applicants must live within 45 minutes of the Niles, MI facility and be prepared for overtime and training opportunities.

Qualifications

Associate degree in electrical/mechanical/industrial maintenance technology or equivalent education/experience
Equivalent education and experience may include military training and technical/technician work
Recent experience as a Station Electrician or equivalent with another utility or contractor

Responsibilities

Work on energized equipment up to 260 volts with supervision. After six months, assist with higher voltages under supervision.
Assist in disassembling, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing station transformers and related equipment.
Assist in installing conduit, cable and wire; perform digging and backfilling; install/remove portable substations and fences; paint structures and equipment.
