Job summary

American Electric Power in Michigan is hiring a Line Mechanic to install, maintain, and inspect electrical transmission and distribution facilities, including overhead and URD lines. The role progresses through C classifications with increasing responsibility and on-call duties.

Qualifications

2 years Line Mechanic C experience or equivalent.
Line Mechanic A requirements include journeyman pre-assessment or equivalent experience.
Valid Class A CDL is required.

Responsibilities

Assemble, install, maintain, remove and inspect overhead and underground facilities.
After C-100, perform work on conductors and equipment energized up to 260 volts.
Test, de-energize and ground URD cable and troubleshoot URD equipment.
After C-200, work on conductors and equipment up to 600 volts.
Build and erect equipment mountings and overhead transformer installations.
Direct the work of employees assigned to assist.
