Job summary

American Electric Power in Michigan is seeking a Line Mechanic with progression from apprentice to higher classifications to install, maintain and repair overhead and underground distribution facilities. A CDL Class A is required, and occasional over-time/on-call work is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Line Mechanic-C experience entails 1 year distribution electrical power line work or related line experience.
• Line Mechanic-B requires 2 years as Line Mechanic C or equivalent.
• Line Mechanic-A requires apprentice lineman training with B-200 cert and 4 years line work experience for external candidates.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, maintain, remove and inspect overhead and underground facilities.
• Direct the work of employees assigned to assist.
• Complete Monthly Apprentice Cards for supervision review.
• Perform switching and tagging of energized circuits.
• Perform inspections and troubleshooting of lines.
