Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a capable Superintendent to oversee daily site operations, scheduling, and procurement across projects statewide. The role requires managing direct labor, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring projects meet timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

The candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field with 5+ years of experience in ground-up commercial construction; a valid driver's license and travel readiness are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field; or equivalent education/experience.
• Preferably 5+ years’ experience on ground-up commercial construction projects.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites.
• Understanding of building codes and drawings; knowledge of subcontractors’ scopes and tolerances.
• Strong written and verbal communication; basic Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan procedures for construction based on specifications, times, staffing and equipment.
• Develop and use look-ahead schedules; coordinate with Project Manager on project timeline.
• Coordinate pre-construction meetings with Project Manager before mobilization.
• Direct procurement of tools and materials to meet work schedules.
• Ensure all project parties are informed of progress and issues; liaise with supervisors, subs, clients and craft personnel.
• Resolve safety, scheduling, and construction method issues with supervisors and engineering staff.
• Inspect ongoing work to ensure conformity with plans and schedules; adjust crews and costs accordingly.
• Support Management in moving personnel between projects to optimize labor costs and performance.
