Job summary

The State of Georgia is seeking a Newborn Screening Laboratory Services Director to lead the Georgia Public Health Laboratory's Newborn Screening programs. This senior role oversees operations, staff, and quality, working with public health partners to ensure accurate, timely results across Georgia and at the Waycross site.

Ideal candidates hold a Master’s in healthcare services and bring extensive managerial experience in clinical/public health labs, with preference for doctorate and regulatory

Qualifications

• Master's degree in healthcare services plus eight years of managerial experience in healthcare.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
• Experience directing or supervising high-complexity laboratory testing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Newborn Screening laboratory operations for accuracy and timeliness.
• Guide policy development, procedures, standards and guidelines for labs.
• Coordinate with programmatic and medical follow-up teams statewide.
• Develop, validate and implement genetic testing and result interpretation.
• Monitor quality management, inventory, records, and QA programs.
