Job summary

Arizona Department of Health Services is seeking a Newborn Screening Laboratory Supervisor to oversee the section, plan activities, and ensure accurate, timely reporting of lab results for newborn disorders. You will supervise staff, ensure compliance with CLIA and lab policies, and manage QA activities within a high-volume testing environment.

The role requires a strong background in laboratory science, supervisory experience, and ability to guide staff in procedures, safety, and quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in laboratory science or related field with at least 4 years of professional level work experience.
• Master's degree may substitute for 1 year of experience; PhD may substitute for two years.

Responsibilities

• Plan and direct daily activities; manage staff, schedule, training, leave, and evaluations.
• Monitor test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure analytic performance.
• Conduct laboratory testing per standard procedures and SOPs.
• Oversee training/orientation and evaluate staff performance.
• Monitor budget, inventory, and equipment maintenance; ensure QA and regulatory compliance.
• Lead quality assurance reviews and support continuous improvement.
