The University of Washington is seeking an Assistant to the Director / State Relations Associate to provide day-to-day administrative support and government relations functions. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, communications, or related field.
  • Two or more years of professional experience supporting upper-level management, preferably in public affairs or government relations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher).
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrates initiative with independent judgment and confidentiality.
  • Skilled at managing priorities in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities

  • Administrative support: manage calendars, coordinate meetings, and support UW leadership in Olympia or on campus.
  • Government relations: assist with state lobbying, draft briefing materials, track legislation, and prepare reports.
  • Events support: help coordinate campus engagement, briefings, and advocacy days.
  • Communications: create briefing documents, talking points, and advocacy materials.
