Job summary

The University of Washington External Affairs State Relations office invites applicants for an Assistant to the Director / State Relations Associate. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, communications, or related field.
  • Two or more years of professional experience supporting upper-level management, preferably in public affairs.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Director’s calendar and coordinate meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support UW engagement in Olympia and legislative districts, including travel reimbursements and tracking expenses.
  • Assist with state lobbying research, briefing materials, and reports; maintain relationships with legislative staff.
  • Prepare communications materials and assist with advocacy content and website updates.
