The role involves leading engagements, maintaining client relationships, specializing in governmental audits, and contributing to business development. Travel to client sites and offices is expected.

Qualifications

• Approximately 10 years' experience in public accounting with at least 2 years in a senior manager role, including auditing state and local governments (cities, counties, districts, schools).
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
• Current CPA license.
• Ability to travel to client and firm locations.
• Proven ability to bring in new business to a CPA Firm.
• Experience conducting audits under GAGAS/Yellow Book, GAAS and the Uniform Guidance.

Responsibilities

• Maintains contact with clients year-round; understands client operations and control systems; builds and maintains client relationships.
• Serves as engagement partner or reports to the engagement partner as per firm policy.
• Signs attest opinions as engagement partner when assigned.
• Oversees all phases of engagements and ensures deliverables comply with accounting framework and firm policy.
• Updates engagement Partner on important developments and addresses issues with partner consultation.
• Ensures engagements are properly scheduled.
• Acts as a subject matter expert for governmental sector audits.
• Oversees billing and collection practices per policy.
• Supervises staff, provides on-the-job training, and reviews work papers.
• Participates in staff performance evaluations and counseling.
• Involved in recruitment and interviewing for Assurance and Advisory roles.
• Represents the firm in business development; develops networks and referrals.
• Leads initial client communications, generates fee estimates, and attends prospective client meetings.
• Maintains compliance with firm-wide policies.
