Job summary

Higher Education Coordinating Commission in Salem, Oregon seeks a full-time, limited-duration State Grants Support – OS2 to assist with OSAC applications and related processes. The role involves handling inquiries, guiding students and staff, and ensuring timely completion of FAFSA/ORSAA tasks.

The position is hybrid with in-person requirements in Salem 2 days per week, and is represented by SEIU. It jobs through 6/30/2027 with benefits including health, retirement, and paid holidays.

Qualifications

  • Two years of general clerical experience that includes keyboarding, word processing, or other experience generating documents.
  • OR an associate degree in any field; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Review and sort general OSAC email boxes and draft/template responses in consultation with grant and scholarships administrators.
  • Provide customer service via phone and email to students, parents, high school staff, college staff, and partners related to OSAC applications and FAFSA/ORSAA completions.
  • Follow up on rejected applications, missing documents, and transcript uploads; contact applicants and schools regarding issues.
  • Send email communications about reminders, deadlines, and required submissions; provide guidance on OSAC scholarship/ORSAA completion.
  • Assist students with OSAC scholarship and grant applications and ORSAA.
  • Evaluate and troubleshoot student issues in the ORSAA and grant application process.

Position Title: State Grants Support - OS2, Full-Time, Limited Duration, Office of Student Access and Completion, Salem, Oregon, REQ - 205911. Initial Posting Date: 09/25/2026 Application Deadline: 10/02/2026 Agency: Higher Education Coordinating Commission Salary Range: $3,515 - $4,738 Position Type: Employee

This position is a full-time, limited duration position expected to last through 6/30/2027. It is headquartered at HECC's Salem office and is represented by SEIU. The successful candidate may be eligible for in-state hybrid work, consisting of performing duties onsite in a standard office environment and working remotely. This position will be required to be in person in our Salem office 2 days per week.

  • Assists students with completion of the OSAC scholarship and grant applications, and ORSAA.
  • Evaluate and troubleshoot student issues in the ORSAA and grant application process.

What We Need

Minimum Qualifications

The Fine Print

Salary Range: The range listed is the Non-PERS salary range. Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) participating members will have their base salary increased by 6.95% and pay a 6% employee contribution to PERS.
