Start-up & Warranty Tech Positions And Responsibilities

Start-up Tech I

This entry-level position is ideal for a self-starter with little to no experience or knowledge in the HVAC industry. The Start-up Tech I must be EPA certified. Responsibilities include assisting in voltage reads, taking amp draws, aligning tension belts, installation of filters, equipment identification, start-up small pieces of equipment, filling out start-up sheets, and being eager to learn and follow directions. Must be able to work in extreme heat, out of town, and weekends when needed.

Pay range: $23-28/hr

Start-up Tech II

This position requires a minimum of 3 years of experience and a solid understanding of start-up, warranty, and HVAC service. The Start-up Tech II must be EPA certified. Responsibilities include voltage reads, amp draws, alignment of tension belts, filter installs, reading blueprints, recovering and pulling vacuums, weighing charge-in units, troubleshooting, soft soldering and brazing, installing accessories, wiring low voltage, diagnosing issues, communicating effectively, documenting work, and completing paperwork accurately and promptly. Must be able to work in extreme heat, out of town, and weekends when needed.

Pay range: $29-32/hr

Start-up Tech III

This position requires at least 5 years of experience and mastery in start-up, warranty, and HVAC service. The Start-up Tech III works independently and must have an EPA Certification. Responsibilities include leading and mentoring Tech I & II, starting up any equipment, diagnosing complex issues, managing vendor communications, proactively solving problems, coordinating with team members and clients, documenting work, and completing paperwork accurately and timely. Must be able to work in extreme heat, out of town, and weekends when needed.

Pay range: $33-36/hr
