Job summary

UL Standards & Engagement in Evanston, IL or Raleigh-Durham, NC seeks a Standards Publications Specialist to support publication of standards and related content. This hybrid role requires technical editing, document preparation, and XML-based publishing to ensure accuracy and publication readiness across platforms.

You will work with cross-functional teams, apply Oxygen XML Editor, and help improve publishing workflows while maintaining traceability and high-quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Communication, Publishing, Information Science, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years related work experience in technical publishing or editing.
• Experience preparing, editing, and QA publication-ready technical documents.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate publishing activities for development, maintenance, and release of standards and related documents.
• Prepare, edit, proof, and format standards content for publication.
• Use Oxygen XML Editor to review and validate XML documents in structured publishing workflows.
• Review tables, figures, and references for formatting consistency and alignment with standards.
• Perform quality control reviews and resolve publication-related issues prior to release.
• Maintain organized records, version control, and documentation for traceability.
• Collaborate with development teams and stakeholders to streamline publishing workflows.
• Identify process improvements and recommend solutions to enhance quality and productivity.
• Manage multiple publishing assignments and meet deadlines.
