Avir Trilogy in Houston seeks a Staffing Coordinator for a Skilled Nursing Facility to develop, maintain, and adjust nursing staff schedules ensuring resident coverage and CMS compliance. You will work with the DON, supervisors, and staff to address staffing needs, call-offs, changes, and overtime.
Responsibilities include scheduling RNs, LVNs/LPNs, and CNAs, monitoring shift coverage, coordinating agency staff, and keeping accurate records.
The Staffing Coordinator is responsible for developing, maintaining, and adjusting the nursing staff schedule to ensure adequate coverage for residents while maintaining compliance with facility policies, staffing requirements, and applicable regulations. This position works closely with the Director of Nursing (DON), nursing supervisors, and staff to address staffing needs, call-offs, schedule changes, and overtime.
Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly staffing schedules for nursing personnel.
Schedule RNs, LVNs/LPNs, and CNAs according to resident census, acuity, and facility staffing requirements.
Monitor staffing levels for all shifts and ensure appropriate coverage.
Respond promptly to call-offs, absences, and unexpected staffing shortages.
Contact qualified staff members to fill open shifts and document all staffing changes.
Coordinate agency or temporary staff when necessary and authorized.
Maintain accurate records of schedules, overtime, call-offs, and staffing changes.
Communicate schedule changes effectively to nursing staff and supervisors.
Work with the DON and nursing leadership to identify recurring staffing issues and develop solutions.
Monitor overtime and help control labor costs while maintaining appropriate resident care coverage.
Assist with orientation and scheduling of newly hired nursing employees.
Ensure staff assignments are consistent with employee credentials, competencies, and facility policies.
Maintain confidentiality of resident and employee information.
Follow all federal, state, and facility regulations, including applicable CMS and nursing-home staffing requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned by the DON or Administrator.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Certified Medication Aide & Certified Nursing Aide
Previous experience in healthcare staffing, scheduling, long-term care, skilled nursing, or a similar environment preferred.
Experience working with nursing staff schedules is strongly preferred.
Knowledge of staffing requirements and healthcare scheduling practices.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work under pressure and respond quickly to staffing emergencies.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or electronic staffing/scheduling software.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee and resident information.
Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) or long-term care experience
Staff scheduling and shift coordination
Kronos, MatrixCare, PointClickCare, OnShift, or similar scheduling systems
Knowledge of CNA/LPN/RN staffing requirements
