Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Missile Defense Integration is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer (Lead) to guide a regional SE team and deliver model-based architecture and requirements for the C2BMC program. The role emphasizes hands-on engineering, leadership, and collaboration with government and industry partners in a high-stakes defense environment.

The position requires MBSE expertise (SysML/UML), strong communication, and the ability to translate stakeholder needs into traceable system

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 12 years of experience; or Master’s degree with 10 years; or PhD with 8 years of experience
• Active Government-Issued 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher at time of application
• Active in-scope Government-issued Secret clearance at time of application
• MBSE experience (SysML/UML) in missile defense or high‑complexity domains

Responsibilities

• Lead regional SE team (~30 engineers) while executing core engineering tasks
• Set technical priorities, review capability concepts, and conduct reviews
• Be hands-on, producing and reviewing requirements, architecture views, and interface docs
• Demonstrate leadership of multidisciplinary teams while remaining technically engaged
• Deliver decomposed, traceable requirements linked to validated architecture
• Collaborate with government/DoD/industry partners in a multi-stakeholder environment
• Communicate analyses and recommendations to senior leaders
• Willing to travel occasionally to support program/customer needs
