Job summary

Drata is building the agentic AI platform defining trust for the next generation of companies. As a Staff Software Engineer, you’ll lead architectural direction for evidence collection and the framework/controls model, tackle cross-team scale challenges, and bring AI agents safely into workflows while staying hands-on to uplift the team.

You’ll mentor engineers, drive reliability and performance improvements, and partner with Product and Engineering leaders to shape the roadmap.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience building and operating production systems.
• Leadership across multiple teams with cross-team initiatives.
• Experience with distributed systems, data pipelines or integration-heavy platforms at scale.
• Strong backend fundamentals: API design, databases, testing, observability, CI/CD.
• Production experience with TypeScript/Node.js (NestJS/React stack).
• Experience with AWS and infrastructure as code.
• Ability to apply AI-assisted development tools with good judgment.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction for evidence collection and framework/controls data model.
• Design and build scalable, reliable systems ingesting evidence from integrations and tenants.
• Lead cross-team projects such as pipeline re-architecting or frameworks for faster compliance.
• Incorporate AI and agentic capabilities with proper guardrails for accuracy and trust.
• Monitor system health, root-cause issues, and translate into roadmap work.
• Review architecture and code to ensure quality, security, and scalability.
• Mentor engineers and communicate technical decisions clearly.
