Job summary

Drata is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own the evidence collection framework and the controls data model, partnering with Product and Engineering to shape the roadmap. You will design scalable, reliable systems that ingest evidence from many integrations and tenants, and lead cross-team initiatives to improve reliability, scale, and speed of delivery.

You’ll mentor engineers, review architecture for security and quality, and help bring AI-assisted workflows into the platform with

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience building and operating production systems.
• Track record of technical leadership across multiple teams and initiatives.
• Deep experience with distributed systems, data pipelines or integration-heavy platforms at scale.
• Strong backend fundamentals: API design, relational databases and data modeling, testing, observability, and CI/CD.
• Production experience with TypeScript/Node.js; NestJS and React stack experience welcome.
• Experience with AWS and infrastructure as code.
• Practical use of AI-assisted development tools.
• Clear written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction for evidence collection and the framework/controls data model, partnering with Product and Engineering leadership to shape the roadmap.
• Design and build scalable, reliable systems that ingest and process evidence across many integrations and tenants.
• Lead cross-team projects such as re-architecting pipelines or adding new frameworks for faster compliance standards.
• Bring AI and agentic capabilities into evidence and framework workflows with guardrails for accuracy, auditability and customer trust.
• Read system health metrics, chase root causes, and convert recurring issues into roadmap work.
• Review architecture and code to ensure quality, scalability and security, while empowering teams.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews and coaching, and communicate decisions clearly.
