Job summary

Johnson & Johnson’s Robotics & Digital Solutions in Santa Clara, CA, seeks a Staff Supplier Engineer to design, develop, and validate manufacturing solutions for direct material components and assemblies, enabling long-term production. Qualifications

• BS degree in Engineering.
• 7+ years in a regulated industry (medical device preferred).
• Knowledge of component/assembly manufacturing process development and validation.
• GD&T interpretation required.
• Mechatronics/robotics experience preferred.
• Quality requirements (SPC, capability analysis, FMEA) understood.
• DFM/A knowledge preferred.
• Experience with supplier management and process improvement.
• Root cause analysis and Six Sigma beneficial.
• Regulatory requirements for medical devices globally understood.
• Up to 25% travel (domestic/international).

Responsibilities

• Own development, characterization, and validation of plastics components and sub-assembly processes at suppliers for new product development and sustaining production.
• Lead scale-up of supplier manufacturing processes to production quantities.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, R&D, Purchasing, Quality, Supply Chain, Marketing, and Finance to deliver manufacturable and cost-effective solutions.
• Apply engineering, world-class manufacturing, statistics and risk management to resolve technical challenges.
• Direct external suppliers to meet tooling and inspection requirements; ensure robust cascade from design to suppliers.
• Drive supplier performance using Six Sigma, Lean, SPC and project management best practices.
• Support corrective actions with root-cause analysis and preventive actions.
• Coordinate project activities and maintain accountability for overall success.
• Other duties as required.
