Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Raleigh, NC seeks a Staff Structural Engineer to lead design efforts on power, process, healthcare and industrial facilities. You will work with project teams through conceptual and design stages, adapting plans to budgets and client needs.

Responsibilities include reviewing drawings, producing CAD/architecture integrations, performing field inspections, and ensuring code compliance. Strong communication, analytical thinking, and familiarity with RISA 3D, AutoCAD, ETABS,

Qualifications

ABET-accredited degrees with required experience or FE for some tracks.
FE exam completion and 3 years structural experience per posted options.
MS in Structural Eng with 2 years experience.
Strong knowledge of engineering techniques and procedures.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Methodical, analytical, and critical thinking abilities.
Proficient in standard engineering practices.
Strong MS Office skills.
Experience with structural analysis software: RISA 3D, AutoCAD, ETABS, SAFE, BIM tools.
Attention to detail, teamwork, organization and problem-solving.
EIT Certification preferred

Responsibilities

Perform structural design from conceptual phase through design completion.
Modify and review production drawings for diverse facilities.
Design structural components per project needs.
Apply knowledge of structural engineering concepts, codes and procedures.
Research and compile project data as required.
Update drawings in CAD software and verify corrections.
Prepare information for client presentations, shop drawings and contract administration.
Conduct field inspections, measurements or calculations for clients.
Perform other duties as assigned and comply with policies.
