Job summary

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is seeking a Staff Services Structural Engineer to join its Structural Engineering unit in the Engineering/Architecture Design Division at 4WTC. You will lead structural design for a wide range of transportation assets including bridges, buildings, tunnels, and waterfront facilities.

Reporting to a Principal Structural Engineer, you will develop design criteria, review submittals, and provide construction support while guiding staff and coordinating

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Civil Engineering degree with a structural focus.
• Seven years of professional structural design experience on bridges/buildings and rehabilitation projects.
• Experience with local NYC/NJ area codes and standards (AASHTO, NYC Building Code, IBC, NJ, UBC).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Teams, and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and coordinate engineering reports, drawings, specs, and cost estimates for facilities and repairs.
• Develop project scope and structural design criteria.
• Coordinate design with other disciplines to minimize disruption to operations.
• Review submittals for conformance with scope, codes, and standards.
• Provide construction support and mentor staff; conduct field inspections and assess conditions.
• Estimate remaining useful design life of structures.
