Job summary

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is seeking a Staff Services Structural Engineer to join the Structural Engineering unit within the Engineering/Architecture Design Division at 4WTC. You will lead professional structural design services for bridges, buildings, tunnels, and related facilities across transportation assets.

Reporting to a Principal Structural Engineer, you will develop innovative designs, prepare contract documents, and coordinate with other disciplines while adhering

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Structural Engineering.
• Seven years of professional structural design experience on small and large projects.
• Design experience with bridges and/or building construction (new and rehab).
• Knowledge of local codes in NY/NJ area (AASHTO, NYC Building Code, IBC NJ, UBC, ACI 318, AISC).
• Proficiency with MS Office and design software including AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and coordinate reports, contract drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for new facilities and repairs across bridges, buildings, tunnels, and waterfront facilities.
• Develop project scope of work and structural design criteria.
• Coordinate design with other disciplines to minimize disruption of facility operations.
• Review submittals and ensure conformance with scope, codes, and Port Authority standards.
• Provide engineering support during construction and assist with staff development.
