Job summary

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is seeking a Staff Services Engineer – Electronics to join the Electrical Engineering design unit. You will deliver electronics systems design services, prepare studies and detailed designs, and contribute to budgets and schedules for critical transportation assets at facilities including 4WTC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Six years of professional engineering design experience with focus on electronic, communication, and radio systems.
• Experience leading design teams and briefing senior staff.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of engineering designs including proposals, design coordination, schedule and budget reporting, and briefings to senior staff.
• Prepare preliminary and detailed estimates and design criteria for new electronics construction and alterations.
• Review criteria, tolerances, dimensions and material properties for feasibility and constructability.
• Develop preliminary conceptual electronics system designs for Capital Projects and Major Work Programs and provide cost estimates to clients.
• Prepare Contract Documents with drawings, technical specs, cost estimates, and purchase orders, ensuring constructibility within time and budget.
• Perform detailed system engineering design, including technical analysis and economic studies, ensuring safety, reliability and maintainability.
• Prepare scopes of work and design criteria for consultants; audit consultant designs for scope and budget conformity.
• Provide technical assistance to facilities and ensure safe, reliable operation of electronics systems.
• Maintain knowledge of state-of-the-art electronics technology and equipment.
• Participate in field commissioning, testing, startup, and troubleshooting of electronic systems.
