Job summary

DoorDash is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own the storage abstraction platform, a data-access layer sitting in front of databases to decouple applications from storage engines. You’ll lead reliability, performance, and correctness at scale, shaping architecture and driving the org-wide quality bar across the storage team.

You’ll work on a Tier 0 platform, focusing on latency, routing, and reliability as DoorDash scales 10x–100x across new verticals, with hybrid work in NY metro, Bay Area,

Qualifications

• 10+ years building large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience with storage abstraction layers or data-access gateways.
• Proficiency in Go production systems.
• Strong Kubernetes and cloud-native infrastructure familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Own reliability, performance, and correctness of the storage abstraction platform at scale.
• Set technical direction for the platform including data-access layer, caching, and routing.
• Deep work in the data plane: proxy, KV, CDC, and routing; address latency and load issues.
• Shape client surface with providers and SDKs to connect apps to the platform.
• Mentor senior engineers and influence roadmaps beyond own team.
• Take end-to-end ownership of platform lifecycle from onboarding to adoption.
• Design and operate systems for 100x growth; prevent single points of failure.
• Translate business needs into durable storage solutions as a domain expert.
