Job summary

DoorDash is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own and scale the storage abstraction platform, owning reliability, performance, and correctness across the data plane. You will define the platform’s architecture, guide routing and cache strategies, and drive long-term technical direction.

This hybrid role is located in the NY metro area, Bay Area, or Seattle and reports to the Engineering Manager on the Distributed Key Value team within Storage.

Qualifications

• 10+ years building large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience with storage abstraction layers or data-access gateways.
• Expertise in low-latency, high-throughput systems.
• Strong Go experience in production distributed systems.
• Deep knowledge of storage internals (MVCC, GC/compaction).
• Proven ownership of Tier 0 / mission-critical services.
• Staff-level technical leadership experience.
• Kubernetes and cloud-native infrastructure; strong observability instincts.
• Proficiency using AI coding tools in the software lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Own reliability, performance, and correctness of the storage abstraction platform at scale.
• Set technical direction for the platform and architecture.
• Work deep in the data plane (proxy, KV, CDC, routing).
• Shape the client surface and SDKs.
• Mentor senior engineers and influence roadmaps.
• Take end-to-end ownership of the platform lifecycle.
