Job summary

IBM Software seeks a Staff Software Engineer on the Secure Compute Platform to lead multi-tenant, cloud-native compute initiatives spanning Kubernetes, containers, and security. You will help run workloads at scale across public clouds.

You will mentor engineers, define architecture, drive security by design, and partner with Product, SRE, and Security teams to deliver reliable, compliant platforms while enabling remote work across the United States.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of backend, infrastructure, or platform software experience.
• BS in Computer Science or related field; MS preferred.
• Experience building large-scale distributed systems.
• Strong collaboration across teams and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive Secure Compute direction and security models.
• Design platform APIs and Kubernetes controllers for workload management.
• Partner with product teams to shape the roadmap for Secure Compute.
• Lead initiatives in scheduling, networking, deployment strategies, and resource management.
• Drive design reviews and ensure security by default.
• Mentor engineers and promote best practices for secure, scalable platform development.
• Own operational excellence including availability, SLOs, on-call, and disaster recovery.
• Role can be performed remotely within the United States.
