Job summary

IBM Software is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the Secure Compute Platform team. You will advance a multi-tenant, cloud-native compute platform across public clouds, ensuring secure execution of trusted and untrusted workloads at scale.

Work spans platform APIs, Kubernetes controllers, and integration with data and application services. You will mentor engineers, shape roadmaps, and drive reliability, security, and operational excellence for mission-critical workloads.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience delivering scalable backend or infrastructure software in production.
• Proven track record of leading delivery of large-scale, highly available distributed systems.
• Deep expertise in Kubernetes, including controllers/operators and multi-cluster Architectures.
• Strong proficiency in Go with production-grade services and control planes.
• Experience with multi-tenant platform architectures and security/isolation patterns.
• Hands-on experience with secure container runtimes and Linux internals.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the technical direction for Secure Compute, including platform architecture and security.
• Design and implement platform APIs and Kubernetes controllers for workload lifecycle and isolation.
• Partner with product teams to shape the roadmap for Secure Compute and on-board new workloads.
• Deliver initiatives in scheduling, networking patterns, rollout strategies, and resource management.
• Lead design reviews and ensure Safe-by-default adoption across teams.
• Mentor engineers through reviews, pair programming, and security-focused practices.
• Own operational excellence for availability, reliability, and incident response.
