Job summary

IBM is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Secure Compute Platform, a cloud-native, multi-tenant compute substrate running on Kubernetes across public clouds. You will design platform APIs and Kubernetes controllers in Go, enabling safe execution of trusted and untrusted workloads at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required with 10+ years in backend or infrastructure software.
• Proven track record delivering large-scale distributed systems.
• Deep Kubernetes expertise incl. controllers and multi-region architectures.
• Proficient in Go; production-grade services and control planes.
• Experience with multi-tenant architectures, security, and isolation patterns.
• Hands-on with secure container runtimes and Linux internals.
• Familiar with cloud providers (AWS/GCP/Azure) and observability practices.

Responsibilities

• Define technical direction for Secure Compute platform and runtime at scale.
• Design and implement platform APIs and Kubernetes controllers/operators (Go).
• Partner with product teams to shape roadmaps for Secure Compute.
• Deliver initiatives in workload scheduling, networking, rollout strategies, and resource management.
• Lead design reviews and drive cross-team architectural alignment.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews and best practices.
• Own operational excellence including availability, reliability, and incident response.
