Job summary

IBM Software is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the Secure Compute Platform, building a multi-tenant, cloud-native runtime across public clouds. You will shape architecture, develop platform APIs, and drive security and performance for mission-critical workloads.

You will mentor engineers, own runtime design, and collaborate with product and SRE teams to ensure high availability and scalable operations.

Qualifications

• 10+ years delivering scalable backend or infrastructure software
• Proven track record of large-scale, highly available distributed systems
• Deep expertise in Kubernetes and controller development
• Strong Go proficiency for production-grade services
• Experience with multi-tenant platform architectures and security/isolation
• Hands-on with secure containers and Linux internals
• Experience with observability and operational best practices
• Experience with AWS, GCP, Azure
• Technical leadership and cross-team collaboration

Responsibilities

• Define the technical direction for Secure Compute and runtime security at scale
• Design and implement platform APIs and Kubernetes controllers in Go
• Collaborate with product and platform teams to shape Secure Compute roadmap
• Deliver initiatives in workload scheduling, networking, and rollout strategies
• Lead design reviews and align architecture across teams
• Mentor engineers and promote secure, reliable platform development
• Own operational excellence for availability, reliability, and incident response
