Compass is seeking a Staff Software Engineer in the Search & Listings org to design scalable search infrastructure and listing pipelines, leading a team to deliver high-impact features for agents and consumers.

You will build APIs, champion reliability, and adopt modern patterns including AI-assisted workflows; collaborate across product, data, and platform teams to drive discovery and inventory management.

Qualifications

• BS in CS or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of software development experience.
• Proficient in Java or Go and modern server-to-server protocols.
• Experience with AWS cloud technologies.
• Strong leadership and cross-team impact.
• Excellent English communication.

Responsibilities

• Define and own platform architecture for SNL stack.
• Lead delivery of complex projects across the full tech stack.
• Improve reliability, reduce toil and infrastructure costs.
