Scribd, Inc. is seeking a senior backend engineer to own the Content Library and Core Infrastructure. You will design, build, and operate Rust services at scale, while evolving the Python tooling used by many teams across Scribd.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience building backend, distributed, or data-intensive systems.
• Proficiency in Rust and Python; strong storage and data fundamentals (S3, Parquet/Arrow).
• Experience designing high-throughput, low-latency services and operating them (metrics, tracing, alerting).
• Technical leadership across teams; ability to mentor engineers and write design docs.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate the Content Library's core Rust services at scale.
• Own features end-to-end from design to production operations; ensure observability and incident response.
• Evolve the Python userland and support engineers across the company with APIs and guidance.
• Lead cross-functional projects with ML, search, product, and data teams; define roadmaps and designs.
• Drive performance and cost-efficiency across the stack (DataFusion, Parquet, caching, PostgreSQL).
• Strengthen governance: data lineage, access controls, deletion propagation across brands.
