Scribd, Inc. is seeking an exceptionally seasoned backend engineer to own and evolve the Content Library and Core Infrastructure. You will design, build, and operate Rust services at scale, while collaborating with ML, search, and data teams to deliver end-to-end features.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Production experience with Rust and Python.
• Strong knowledge of storage and data fundamentals (S3, Parquet, Arrow).
• Experience designing and operating high-throughput, low-latency services.
• Proven technical leadership and cross-team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate the Content Library's core Rust services.
• Own features end-to-end from design to production operations.
• Evolve the Python userland and support engineers.
• Lead cross-functional projects with ML, search, product, and data teams.
• Drive performance and cost-efficiency across the stack.
• Strengthen governance: data lineage, access controls, deletion propagation.
• Mentor the team and improve developer workflows including AI tooling.
