Scribd, Inc. is seeking a senior software engineer to own the Content Library and core infrastructure. You will design, build, and operate Rust services at scale, while guiding feature development and improving the Python userland for the team.

You will collaborate with ML, search, product, and data teams, driving performance, cost efficiency, and strong governance across the platform. A leadership role with mentorship and cross-functional impact awaits.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Rust and Python proficiency and backend/ data systems focus
• Experience with storage fundamentals: S3, Parquet/Arrow, PostgreSQL/MySQL
• Leadership: guiding projects and mentoring engineers
• AWS and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform)
• Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate the Content Library's core Rust services at scale
• Own end-to-end features from design to production operations
• Evolve the Python userland and developer experience
• Lead cross-functional projects with ML, search, product, and data teams
• Drive performance and cost-efficiency across the stack (DataFusion, Parquet, S3, PostgreSQL)
• Strengthen governance: data lineage, access controls, deletion propagation
• Mentor teammates and improve the development environment including agentic AI workflows
