Scribd, Inc. is seeking a senior backend engineer to design, build, and operate the Content Library's core Rust services, handling transactional storage, transforms, and low-latency retrieval at scale.

You will own features end-to-end and evolve the Python tooling used by multiple teams. You will lead cross-functional projects with ML, search, product, and data teams, shaping the platform's future while driving performance, cost-efficiency, and governance across the stack.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience building backend, distributed, or data-intensive systems.
• Production experience writing Rust and strong proficiency in Python.
• Experience with AWS and infrastructure-as-code workflows such as Terraform.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate the Content Library's core Rust services at scale (hundreds of billions of objects).
• Own features end-to-end from design through deployment and production operations.
• Evolve the Python userland and support engineers across the company with guidance and well-designed APIs.
