Job summary

Natter seeks a Staff or Principal level engineer to own the technical direction of its platform, drive scalable architectures, and contribute hands-on coding. You will collaborate with product and engineering leadership to shape the roadmap, lead high-impact decisions, and mentor engineers toward substantial growth.

Responsibilities

• Define the multi-year technical direction for the platform and turn it into a roadmap to execute against.
• Lead the design of critical high-risk systems, including the AI conversation pipeline and multi-tenant data architecture, from first principles to production at scale.
• Make and defend high-impact build vs. buy decisions, data model choices, and platform boundaries with documentation that sets standards.
• Own reliability, security, observability, performance, and cost across the platform, and raise the bar for engineering excellence.
• Mentor senior engineers toward Staff-level contributions and shape the engineering hiring bar.
• Partner with product leadership to infuse technical insight into product direction.
• Represent Natter technically for enterprise clients in security reviews and architecture deep dives.
• Stay hands-on in the critical path, building prototypes and writing production code when needed.
