Job summary

Natter is seeking a Staff/Principal engineer to define the platform's technical direction and scale its most critical systems. You will work closely with product and leadership, mentor engineers, and stay hands-on to ensure architectural integrity and performance.

You'll join a strong team and operate across multi-tenant data pipelines, security reviews, and production-grade code. This role is remote-first with a London office available for collaboration.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated senior technical influence at Staff/Principal level.
• Experience designing scalable, production-grade systems.

Responsibilities

• Define multi-year technical direction and roadmap for the platform.
• Lead design of critical, high-risk systems from first principles to production at scale.
• Make build vs. buy decisions and set platform data models and service boundaries.
• Own reliability, security, observability, performance, and cost.
• Mentor engineers to grow to Staff level and contribute to hiring standards.
• Collaborate with product leadership to incorporate technical insights into direction.
• Represent Natter in security reviews and high-stakes incidents.
• Stay hands-on with production code and prototype critical paths.
