General Motors Company is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own architecture and delivery of scalable platforms across plant facilities in a hybrid Austin/Warren setup. You will drive production-grade services, secure architectures, and AI-enabled workflows while mentoring engineers.

The role requires 8+ years in software engineering, deep expertise in Python/FastAPI and React/TypeScript, and experience with Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering production systems.
• Experience designing and developing distributed applications, microservices, APIs, and event-driven systems.
• Strong experience with Python and FastAPI.
• Strong experience with React, TypeScript, and frontend development.
• Familiarity with Java and Spring Boot services in distributed enterprise platforms.
• Experience with databases including relational and graph-based technologies such as PostgreSQL.
• Experience with cloud and container technologies (Azure, Docker, Kubernetes) and DevOps practices.
• Experience building secure apps with identity, authentication, authorization, and secure service-to-service communication.
• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and GitHub Actions or similar; observability with dashboards and metrics.

Responsabilités

• Lead architecture and delivery of scalable software capabilities for manufacturing teams across multiple plants.
• Translate business needs into technical requirements, interfaces, and delivery plans.
• Design, build, test, and operate production-grade services using Python, FastAPI, React/TypeScript, Java/Spring Boot, and cloud technologies.
• Develop and manage event-driven data workflows and integrations with enterprise systems.
• Guide engineering practices for CI/CD, infrastructure automation, containers, and GitOps tooling.
• Mentor engineers and align cross-team dependencies to enable scalable platform evolution.
• Contribute to in-plant monitoring, computer-vision, and AI-enabled workflows.
