Job summary

General Motors LLC is seeking an engineering leader who still ships code, guiding multiple teams behind sourcing parts and vehicle delivery platforms. You will own technical direction, delivery, and measurable results, while staying hands-on with code reviews and prototyping.

You'll drive modernization across legacy systems, deploy AI coding agents, and define roadmaps with KPIs. The role blends leadership with hands-on engineering in a hybrid environment.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or related field.
• 10+ years of software engineering and people leadership experience.
• Hands-on coding proficiency in Java or C++ with frontend experience (Angular/React).
• 1+ year hands-on use of AI coding agents in production work.
• Experience with distributed systems, APIs, event-driven architecture, and cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple engineering teams across modern platforms, APIs, integrations, and legacy systems.
• Turn business strategy into roadmaps and KPIs, then deliver them.
• Partner with product, business, architecture, operations, and delivery leaders to translate needs into scalable solutions.
• Make architecture calls and set high standards for quality, security, and reliability.
• Hands-on in code reviews, debugging, and proofs of concept.
• Drive modernization of legacy applications and AI coding agent rollout.
• Measure impact with DORA metrics and report to leadership.
• Hire and grow engineers and tech leads and foster accountability and learning.
