Job summary

General Motors seeks a Senior Systems Engineer to lead the deployment, modernization, and ongoing support of software used globally in GM manufacturing plants. You will build AI-enabled deployment workflows, deconstruct existing processes, and ensure reliability across plant-floor systems.

You will collaborate with IT infrastructure teams to install and configure servers, validate data quality, and implement AI-driven solutions while maintaining security and traceability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT or related field.
• 5+ years of experience integrating applications with industrial PLCs, robots, or automation equipment.
• Hands-on experience deploying and maintaining shop-floor IT applications.
• Experience designing, deploying, or operating AI/ML solutions in enterprise/manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

• Deconstruct deployment processes to make them AI-centric, secure, repeatable, and scalable.
• Deploy, configure, update, and maintain shop-floor software on IT infrastructure.
• Design and implement AI/ML capabilities, including generative AI for scripts and analytics.
• Coordinate testing with upstream/downstream plant software to ensure data continuity.
• Support CIMPLICITY, OPC UA/DA, PLC-to-MES integrations and Kepware connectivity.
• Review PRs and collaborate on readiness and deployment improvements.
