Job summary

Intuit's Traffic Team owns a custom API Gateway and a Service Mesh that move traffic across Intuit's products. We are hiring a Staff Engineer to provide technical leadership with a focus on MCP Gateway and AI-agent-driven traffic operations.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience on large-scale, low-latency distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with Envoy/Istio or modern service mesh and API gateway architectures.
• Systems-level programming in Go and/or Java, with cross-language platform experience.
• Designing authentication/authorization for high-throughput traffic; OAuth/mTLS/token exchange a plus.
• Leading incident response and root-cause analysis for production issues.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a senior technical leader for the Traffic platform, guiding API Gateway, Service Mesh, and MCP Gateway.
• Drive design and hardening of the MCP Gateway, focusing on authentication flows and performance.
• Lead AI-agent-enabled traffic operations, including troubleshooting and config impact analysis.
• Own major migrations end-to-end with backward compatibility and blast-radius containment.
• Apply resiliency practices (FMEA, Game Day) to reduce P1/P2 incidents on shared infrastructure.
