Job summary

Intuit is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead the Traffic platform, guiding API Gateway and Service Mesh strategy across MCP Gateway initiatives. You will shape security, performance, and scalability for AI-agent traffic with deep knowledge of Envoy/Istio and modern mesh patterns.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with large-scale, low-latency production systems.
• Hands-on expertise with Envoy and/or Istio, or equivalent mesh/api gateway tech.
• Experience designing authentication/authorization for high-throughput traffic.

Responsibilities

• Serve as senior tech leader for the Traffic platform, guiding API gateway, service mesh, and MCP gateway architecture.
• Lead design, hardening, and security for the MCP Gateway and AI-agent traffic.
• Oversee AI-agent enabled traffic ops, troubleshooting, and config impact analysis.
• Own or co-own major migrations end-to-end with backward compatibility and blast-radius control.
• Apply resiliency practices (FMEA, Game Day, load shedding) to reduce incidents.
• Act as escalation point during high-severity incidents affecting gateway/mesh traffic.
• Collaborate with Principal Engineers and engineering managers to align strategy.
• Mentor senior staff and raise engineering bar through design reviews and pairing.
• Contribute to FY roadmap with scope, sequencing, and risk trade-offs.
