Job summary

Intuit is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead the Traffic platform, owning API Gateway, Service Mesh, and MCP Gateway efforts. You will guide architecture and security for high-stakes traffic between internal services and customer-facing products.

You will mentor senior engineers, drive migrations, and shape resiliency practices while partnering across the org to deliver a multi-quarter platform roadmap that enables AI agent interactions at scale.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience in large-scale distributed systems.
• Expertise with Envoy and Istio or modern service mesh architectures.
• Strong systems-level programming in Go and/or Java.
• Experience designing authentication systems for high-throughput traffic.
• Incident response and root cause analysis experience.
• Experience with AWS networking at scale.

Responsibilities

• Set architecture and engineering direction for API Gateway, Service Mesh, and MCP Gateway.
• Design and harden MCP Gateway, including auth flows for AI clients.
• Lead AI-agent-enabled traffic operations and service onboarding.
• Own major migrations end-to-end with backward compatibility focus.
• Apply resiliency practices to reduce P1/P2 incidents.
• Act as escalation point during high-severity incidents.
• Partner with cross-functional engineers to align technical strategy.
• Mentor engineers and participate in design reviews.
• Contribute to FY roadmap with scoping and risk assessment.
