Job summary

SCAN is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to design and implement healthcare solutions across utilization management, care management, provider data, network management and provider relations. You will drive architectural decisions and mentor engineers in a fast‑paced environment.

The role requires deep payor systems expertise and collaboration across multiple business functions, leveraging Azure cloud services and AI tools to transform member services and operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, AI, data science, EE, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years in software development.
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Preferred Azure certifications: Azure AI Engineer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure AI Fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Define and architect software architecture and integrations for and across business functions and solutions, ensuring scalability, flexibility, sustainability, performance, reliability, and security.
• Lead cross‑functional collaboration with product managers, architects, and engineering teams to align technical strategies with business objectives.
• Mentor team members, enforce best coding practices, prepare technical specifications, and provide low‑level design to ensure scalability and high quality.
• Communicate and solve high‑stakes technical problems that span multiple teams.
• Own the design, development, and debugging of critical, large‑scale systems and infrastructure.
• Develop scalable integration layers using Java, .NET APIs, and healthcare‑interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR, EDI X12).
