Job summary

Nscale is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to build Fleet Manager, the workflow automation platform that provisions, tests, and remediates GPU nodes and network switches at scale. You will own domain-level architecture and drive reliability, observability, and integration with data center tooling.

The role sits at the intersection of distributed systems, infrastructure automation, and hardware lifecycle management, with opportunities to shape foundational platform patterns early in development.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience designing, building and operating distributed systems in production.
• Strong proficiency in Python; Fleet Manager is Python-based.
• Experience with event-driven/workflow architectures, retries, idempotency, and failure handling.
• Proven track record delivering automation systems and day-2 operations experience.

Responsibilities

• Own domain-level technical direction for major Fleet Manager domains.
• Design and build production-grade automation for provisioning, burn-in, and remediation workflows.
• Engineer for reliability, observability, and auditability across platforms.
• Integrate Fleet Manager with DCIM, NetBox, MAAS/Ironic, credential stores and monitoring.
• Establish shared patterns, libraries, and runbooks for engineers to reuse.
• Operate produced systems with strong incident response and day-2 discipline.
• Mentor teammates and drive architectural coherence, including AI-assisted delivery.
