Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is hiring Staff Software Engineers for the Developer Infrastructure group. You will own core developer infrastructure platforms, including CI/build systems and deployment orchestration, driving improvements across the full lifecycle from design through production operation.

You will set technical direction for cross‑team initiatives, raise reliability through SLOs and observability, and mentor engineers while collaborating with leadership to shape Coinbase's platform strategy.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building and operating production distributed systems with hands‑on experience in Go or a comparable systems language.
• Experience designing and shipping high‑impact backend/platform systems used by many engineers.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑team initiatives and set architectural direction for scale.

Responsibilities

• Own core developer infrastructure platforms, including CI/build systems and deployment orchestration across the full lifecycle from design to production.
• Identify high‑leverage problems, translate ambiguous challenges into concrete roadmaps, and drive alignment across dependent teams.
• Improve metrics such as build/CI wall time, deploy speed and safety, and developer feedback latency.
• Lead strategic, cross‑cutting initiatives end to end, including large‑scale platform migrations, with multi‑team collaboration.
• Raise the reliability bar for developer infrastructure by owning SLOs, observability, and on‑call response.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews, pairing, and shared ownership while shaping technical strategy across Coinbase.
