Job summary

Coinbase is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for the Developer Infrastructure group in Platform. You will own the tools and systems every Coinbase engineer relies on, including CI, build, and deployment orchestration, and lead complex, cross-team initiatives from design to production.

The role emphasizes architectural direction, reliability, observability, and mentoring engineers while collaborating with stakeholders across Coinbase.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building and operating production distributed systems with Go or a comparable systems language.
• Experience in CI/CD, build systems, or deployment tooling.
• Proven track record shipping high-impact backend/platform systems at scale.
• Demonstrated cross-team technical leadership and architecture direction.
• Strong operational reliability with observability and fast recovery from day one.
• Mentor engineers and drive design reviews and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Own core developer infrastructure platforms, including CI/build systems and deployment orchestration.
• Turn ambiguous challenges into concrete roadmaps and drive alignment across teams.
• Improve build, CI wall time, deploy speed, safety, and developer feedback latency.
• Lead cross-cutting initiatives end to end, incl. large-scale platform migrations.
• Raise reliability by owning SLOs, observability, and on-call practices.
• Partner with engineers and leadership to shape technical strategy and mentor through reviews.
