Job summary

Coinbase is hiring Staff Software Engineers for the Developer Infrastructure group in Platform. You will own CI/build systems and deployment orchestration across the full lifecycle, shaping technical direction and solving cross-team problems.

You will drive improvements in build speed, reliability, and deployment safety, mentor engineers, and partner with leadership to advance org-wide initiatives. This is a remote-first role with quarterly in-person surges.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building and operating production distributed systems.
• Hands-on proficiency in Go or a comparable systems language and experience with CI/CD, build systems, or deployment tooling.
• Track record of designing and shipping high-impact backend or platform systems used by many engineers.

Responsibilities

• Own core developer infrastructure platforms, including CI/build systems and deployment orchestration, across the full lifecycle from design through production operation.
• Identify the group's highest-leverage problems and turn ambiguous challenges into concrete roadmaps, aligning across dependent teams.
• Drive improvements to metrics like build/CI wall time, deploy speed and safety, and developer feedback latency.
• Lead strategic cross-cutting initiatives end to end, including large-scale platform migrations.
• Raise the reliability bar for developer infrastructure with SLOs, observability, and on-call readiness.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with Coinbase leadership to shape technical strategy.
